Access All Areas

Access All Areas is a project for young people across the county and city to gain experience of a wide range of musical art forms.

Access All Areas has produced performances and recorded CDs with nearly a thousand young people, working in-house at Planet Sound Community Arts or as outreach in youth & community centres.

More recently, Access All Areas has developed to include a series of 2-day residentials at Stanley Head outdoor pursuits centre during the summer and has developed into an all-year-round outreach programme.

During the two day residencies, young people develop new skills and work to produce performance pieces which are staged at Planet Sound's showcase in each year.

The outreach programme focuses on enabling the young people to create a new piece(s) of music, which they record and receive a copy on CD.

"When he (a participant) arrived at the residency he was withdrawn to the extent that he was found rocking and banging his head against a wall. The music leader on the residency made an immediate connection. He joined the MCing group and throughout the residency worked hard with enthusiasm and concentration." Mr Will, Planet Sound Community Arts.
