Charity event invites local musicians

Local music charity, Make Some Noise is inviting all musicians from Stoke, Staffordshire and beyond to join them later this month for an exciting open-jam session in Stafford.

The event which is part of the Stafford Arts Festival will take place on Saturday 17 September at the Stafford Gatehouse Theatre from 12 – 3pm.

Make Some Noise who are celebrating 10 years in the business this year provide a wide range of exciting music opportunities for children and young people across the county.

Make Some Noise is inviting everyone from young musicians seeking help, to professional musicians who may be interested in this line of work to come along and play with the charity’s own team of musicians on stage. Make Some Noise’s team of professional staff will also be on hand to offer advice and guidance to anyone interested to find out more about the charity’s work. Members of the public are also invited to just come along and listen to the musicians play.

Tim Sharp, Chief Executive Officer for Make Some Noise said: “We are delighted to be a part of the Stafford Arts Festival and look forward to showcasing a handful of the incredibly talented musicians that work with us and have helped turn young lives around for the better. It is going to be exciting to hear our own musicians play together with other musicians as they pop in for a jam and a chat.”

As part of their 10th birthday celebrations, Make Some Noise is also appealing to local businesses, organisations and members of the public to support them in their fundraising campaign. Monies raised through its new fundraising campaign will help to ensure that future generations of young people have the chance to enjoy and benefit from the range of music projects provided by the charity.

Since 2001, we have worked with over 20,000 children and young people to make music of many styles.

Make Some Noise is one of 21 Youth Music Action Zones set up across England and Wales by Youth Music. Youth Music is the UK's largest children's music charity, set up in 1999 to promote and support music-making opportunities for children with the least access. Make Some Noise is a limited company and registered charity.

Youth Music is the leading UK charity using music to transform the lives of disadvantaged children and young people. We support and develop exemplary music provision at every stage of a young person’s development, whether it’s the first time a mother and baby make music together, or a talented teen’s debut at the Royal Albert Hall. Youth Music has transformed the landscape of musical opportunity in the UK. Since 1999, we’ve reached over two million children and young people through all types of music; both in and out of school. Music has the power to build confidence, broaden horizons and raise aspirations. Our music programmes allow vulnerable young people to find their way, take charge of their lives and unlock their hidden potential.
