Chesterton Rehearse for Tour Date

Rehearsals are well underway for one group of aspiring young musicians from North Staffordshire as they busily prepare for their second live gig as part of the national Power Tour.

Sound Check Chesterton band members, Nathan Huxley, Guy Cooper, Josh Johnson, Joe Peers and Sam Bloor aged between 11 – 15 years performed live for the very first time recently at the Sugarmill in Hanley as part of the fourth date for this national, annual 51 day tour for aspiring musicians. The event was organised by Make Some Noise, the leading music charity for Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent who teamed up with similar music charities across the UK once again to bring the Power Tour gig to the City.

Indy pop group Sound Check Chesterton impressed organisers of the Sugarmill event with their excellent performance and have been invited to perform once again, this time at the Hive in Shrewsbury for the final Power Tour event on Wednesday 14th December.

Tim Sharp, Chief Executive for Make Some Noise, Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent said: “The event at the Sugarmill was a fantastic evening and these young people really rocked the house with their performance, showing that we are fortunate to have so much up and coming talent in our area. Events like this are just one of the ways we aim to provide music opportunities for children and young people across the county”.

Guy Cooper aged 15 from Sound Check Chesterton has been playing drums for five years and the guitar for two years. He said: “I’ve always been interested in music, I first heard about Make Some Noise from Youth Club. They have helped me to become more talented and better at playing music. I’d suggest to other young people seeking to perform don’t give up”.

Tickets for the Power Tour event Live at the Hive, Shrewsbury are available on the door for ÂŁ3. Doors open 7.15pm.
