My name is Miley, and for the last three years, Make Some Noise has provided me with many fantastic music opportunities, from conventions to concerts, presenting to performing; culminating in an invitation to go down to London for BBC’s new reality TV programme, ‘Goldie’s Band: By Royal Appointment’.

 

The show follows a group a musicians from various backgrounds, age 17-24, all with unique ability and talent, through a serious of workshops, with names such as Ms Dynamite, Cerys Matthews, Guy Chambers, and, of course, Goldie himself. The finale was a performance in the Ballroom of Buckingham Palace, hosted by HRH Prince Harry, and I was privileged enough to go along and show my support.

 

It was an incredible experience - quite apart from being invited into the Palace itself, it was wonderful to witness so many brilliant and talented young people, who each added their own individual flair into a creative new style, which had the audience hooked, right from the very first song! Each musician was given the chance to show off their personal skill, as well as help others to enhance their own; it was amazing that so many different genres of music could come together to create such an exciting, new and unique sound. After the performance - which was mind blowing - I was introduced to Prince Harry and Goldie, as well as several other influential music artists who were invited.

 

It was an honour, though strangely surreal, to meet them, though everyone, especially Prince Harry, was helpful and charming, even cracking a joke or two! I was also able to meet Goldie’s Band members- before they were whisked away for a photo shoot! They were all incredibly down to earth and easy to talk to, and I was able to thank and congratulate them face to face for the inspirational performance they had just given.

 

I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and it was an honour to represent Staffordshire and Make Some Noise at Buckingham Palace; and I would especially like to thank Tim Sharp and all the staff at Make Some Noise for this once in a life time opportunity!
