Using music as the vehicle for engagement, Up Tempo plays an important role in the treatment and recovery of patients within wards and outreach settings as a meaningful intervention. Musical engagement is valuable on a sensory level to support motivation and engagement, and has has been found to improve social interaction, help build social skills and communication. During the project, patients have had the opportunity to express themselves and their situation with help from Make some Noise and Hive music leaders, producing a body of compositions that reflect their journey to recovery.
